My view of “skincare” drastically changed about five years ago when I read the book, The Human Superorganism: How the Microbiome Is Revolutionizing the Pursuit of a Healthy Life by Dr. Rodney Dietert.
The human genome project, which Dr. Rodney Dietert is a part of, has ushered in a new biology to understand our microbial partners and the extraordinary impact microbes have on humans.
With this knowledge I began to understand that skincare is not just for topical appearance. Although, a bright and vibrant complexion is certainly a bonus! With each product you are putting on your skin you are giving your body a chance to expand its microbial garden by partnering with microbes from the Eurkaryotic domain of life. This directly translates to our overall metabolic function as we are superorganisms with thousands of microbial partners.
This is WHY when I get the opportunity to utilize other animal fats, herbs, or oil from plants I JUMP on it.
Bison tallow is very similar to tallow from cattle. From the outside I can see it is typically a bit more golden and has a firm more velvet like texture. But what I can’t see is the microbes the tallow provides and how it positively impacts our immune systems.
I’m making sure that all of my kids are exposed to this LIMITED RELEASE line of Bison tallow while I have it.
